On Saturday 1st June the first friendly took place for one of our two new teams. Playing an experienced FJSC team the lads had a tough task, the team started brilliantly trying to integrate training skills into the game! Reuben Roach making some fantastic saves in goal kept Redgate in the game on a couple of occasions! With great determination the team grew in confidence and chances for Leif Snorgaard, Cormack Nice and Luis Windle all narrowly going wide of the goal! FJSC got themself a goal from a mix up in the defence, but Redgate remained confident they would get back into the game. Redgate soon got back into the game with a quick fire double by captain, Sonny Clarke, a great corner by Cormac Nice caused a scramble in the box in which Sonny shot through a crowd to score. The second coming from a great run from Cormack Nice down the right hand side with a great cross to Luis Windle whos shot was deflected to the edge of the box were Sonny Clarke shot low into the bottom corner! After the half time break FJSC got back into the game with a well worked goal. Redgate were still running and causing problems for the opposition defence with Leif Snorgaard and Jack Norbury harassing the defence, the team started to tire as expected on their first outing. Thomas Arnold was a rock at the back the whole game and was making tackles all over the pitch, with a bit of hesitation at the back and tired legs FJSC took the lead. The team played fantastic in their first outing with only positives to take out of the game! The boys did themselves and the club proud! Was also a really nice touch to see new chairman Steve Johnson and child welfare officer Rob Jackson down to support the team in their first outing.
