Having reached the cup final in the last two seasons, but missing out both times, the team were able to rally together and overcome a strong Formby Juniors team to secure a 3-1 victory. Redgate started on the front foot and had a couple of golden chances to take the lead in the first 15 minutes but just couldn’t find the net. The breakthrough finally came when Joey Smith volleyed home from a Daniel Grimes cross. A few minutes later, the ball fell to Daniel again who fired home from 25 yards to make it 2-0!

The second half was much more tentative, with Redgate sitting a bit too deep to protect their lead. Formby juniors were able to pull it back to 2-1 with a fine goal, with about 15 minutes to go. The game was finely balanced until Joey Smith was able to head home a wonderful Thomas Wong corner with just three minutes left.

Player of the game was a difficult choice as it could have been any of the team, but it was awarded to Bella Massey, who put in a tremendous performance at centre back.
